Yamato's Last Stand 3 by LyokoWarrior4ever Yamato's Last Stand 3 by LyokoWarrior4ever
the third picture i've put up here about the IJN Yamato's final battle, this one shows the fight from her decks, and you can get a feel for the massive size of the ship, something i've recently learn, her main gun turrets, the ones that hold her 18.1 inch cannons weighed about the same as an american destroyer, think about it, a Fletcher class destroyer, is the same weight as 1 of yamato's main gun turrets, i was surprised by that

(Post 2/9/2014, i do not own this art. if someone does know the original artist please leave it in the comments below so i can correctly credit the artist. Apologizes for the misinformation)

Awesome...

Powerful...

Majestic...

These three words are understatements to this mighty ship's power

This is epic. I like the way that you managed to portray both the sheer scale of the ship and the activity of the little sailors aboard her at the same time. The little details like that shot-down plane in the corner and the bullet marks just add to the immersion. It's a shame that such a glorious ship had to go down in what was acknowledged to be a suicide mission, although her death at sea, going down fighting to the last, was more honorable than being inevitably scrapped after the war.

On a side note, are those sandbags around the triple 25-mm mounts? Also, the men appear to be wearing Imperial Army uniforms. Sorry if it seems like I'm nitpicking, but I appreciate finer details. Very well done all in all.

This is incredible! One always knows the Yamato was big, but the magnitude is often lost in overall images. This really drives it home! That the main gun turrets were as heavy as an entire Fletcher class destroyer is just a stupendously mind blowing realization. For what it's worth, for as incredible as the Yamato, Musashi, and Shinano were, I'm really glad they were taken out when they were. To go up against them in more fights would have been probably devastating for our ships and crews.

It is a shame that they were sunk. They would have been nice to have around.
